We are doing a zebra V Tiger stampede on the Sunday at Leeds. Onesie costumes can be purchased from primark for £10.

On the Saturday at Leeds the party theme is medevil. The Leeds team will be announced very shortly.

Hi Everyone,

A week to go before mayhem begins!

Just a few updates;

a)   I have to tell IOW festival organisers about ferries ASAP, should have done this last month. She has given us until Tuesday and then no more ferries will be booked. EMAIL ME ministryofwelfare@hotmail.com

b)   Check briefings before you leave for the festivals; we will try and update how to get in. As far as we know it's the same as last year but check. The briefs are on the MOW website, password for all pages is ishop

c)   If anyone is around in Sheffield next Tuesday we really really really need a hand loading the kit into the vans, alcohol is on offer. If you want to be my best friend (I sort the shifts out) give me a ring 07751145805

d)   If anyone new hasn't paid their deposit for IOW or Download let me know if you are still coming. If I haven't heard by Tuesday I'll have to give the place to someone else. To pay it go to the MOW website click on Deposit page and follow the Paypal instructions.

e)   We have a problem running the Access database for Lost Property on my laptop at Download, my laptop works but I can't use the access programme. Can anyone help with this?

f)    We are putting a joining instructions letter on the website, to make it easier for you to get in.

g)   We have updated the Basic Training booklet - now called the Basic Training Manual, it's been simplified and Key points have been added to each page. You can download a PDF version from the crew info page on the website.
http://www.ministryofwelfare.com/Basic Training Manual 2011 pdf.pdf

h)   Basic Training and Annual Update will happen at the event; we have changed this also and made it easier.

i)     Can all crew ensure they have read the Little Red Book & Basic Training Manual before arriving (It will make training much easier).

Can't wait to see all of you

Stop doing the day count on Facebook 'cos I've got PFT! J

MOW News 2011 - Issue 2

A big thanks to everyone who has let us know what festivals they are attending. We are amazed at the response. Here's the response we've had;

Summer Ball, 13 interested

Download, 47

IOW, 36

Sonisphere, 54

Lovebox, 12

High Voltage, 10

Global, 26

Leeds, 60

We have never been in this position in April; it's so nice to see we have kept most of the crew from last year.

We will be sorting out who is going in the very near future

We are bringing in a new deposit system, details will be sent out soon but the general gist is. It will only apply to new crew starting in 2011, but if any existing crew drop out of an event they will go on the deposit system. The deposit will be £50 with a £5 admin fee. We didn't want to do it but we did have loads drop out at Leeds last year and it was a nightmare to sort out.

We will be having cancellation deadlines, the point when we definitely need to know if you are going to an event or not. After this date if people drop out (without a reasonable excuse) then they either lose their deposit or go on to the deposit scheme for future events.

We would value comments from the crew on the deposit system.

Until next time

Sarah & Chris

We haven't decided on the deposit system as yet, if it happens it will be for new people, if crew drop out of events we may ask for a deposit for future events

We are trying to improve communication this year and would like everyone to join the mailing list. This way everyone gets info and we don't have to try and contact everyone individually.
